  1. Socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and gender are three important dimensions of identity. Explain how each of these dimensions might impact children's learning from either a child's or an adult's perspective.
  2. Instances of bias and discrimination based on sex and gender exist in all realms of society. Provide one or more examples of each of the following as they pertain to learning environments and education: gender-role stereotyping, gender bias in the curriculum, and sex discrimination. How might caring and knowledgeable adults prevent each from being a part of learning environments?

  3. This week you have been considering the ways in which developing a sense of community in learning settings impacts children's growth and ability to learn. Based on the theories and strategies of Johnson and Johnson, explain the relationship between learning environments that have a sense of community and children's ability to grow and learn.
